Free Mountains Association organizes different educational courses for skiers and snowboarders, who want to learn more about staying safe and enjoy the backcountry.
Avalanche safety course -
The two days programme is designed to give you a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, how to stay safe offpiste. Subjects covered include why avalanches occur, risk reduction, and simple rescue techniques including use of safety equipment.
"Choice of a route in the backcountry" course - gives you a knowledge of how to skin up, how to choose the safest route skinning up and then skiing down.
Navigation and orientation course - helps you to learn the basics in using a map and a compass, in order to avoid being lost in bad weather conditions
Alpine tecniques course - the two day programme helps you to learn how to tackle with technical terrain during your ascent and descent in the mountains. Using alpine equipment as ropes, ice axes, harnesses and crampons.
